On Wednesday, January 10, the entire Hume School population was fortunate to have talented Djembe Music Teacher and Performer, Taylor Michael, share his passion and excitement for the Djembe drum. The presentation infused performance, Djembe learning, historical context, and geography relating to the roots of the Djembe African drum.

Hello Hume Families!

Family Literacy Week will be from January 21st to the 28th.  In celebration of this honoring of books and literacy, Hume Elementary School Library is hosting a Book Swap.  Families can donate gently used children's books from Tuesday, Jan. 16th to Tuesday, Jan. 23rd.

School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) announced the election by acclamation of a new chair and vice-chair of the Board of Education at the inaugural board meeting held in Nelson, B.C., on November 14. School Trustee Dawn Lang was elected uncontested as the new chair, moving into the role after serving one year as vice-chair.

Hume School Library is hosting an in-person Scholastic Book Fair.

The book fair will run for 3 days. The fair will be open throughout the day for staff and students to view and purchase items.
