Chair Dawn Lang and Vice-Chair Julie Bremner were re-elected by acclamation to serve a second term in their leadership roles for the School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) Board of Education at the inaugural meeting of the board held in public on November 12.

On Thursday, May 9th, the Hume Elementary School in collaboration with the Elephant Mountain Literary Festival (EMLF) committee was fortunate to host Vancouver author Tanya Lloyd Kyi in the Hume School Library.  On May 9th, Tanya was at Hume School to deliver three presentations for students in Grades 1-5. The sessions enjoyed by students included the following:

The School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) Board of Education unanimously approved the annual budget for the 2024-2025 school year at its public meeting on the evening of May 14.

Recently, Hume Elementary Students concluded an Artstarts Artist in the Classroom project involving an introduction to Stop Motion Animation.  In total, 8 out of the 10 classes in the school worked with Artist, Brian Lye, a local filmmaker, artist, and arts educator living in Nelson, BC.  Brian completed three sessions in each of the classrooms.
