Hello Hume Families!

Family Literacy Week will be from January 21st to the 28th.  In celebration of this honoring of books and literacy, Hume Elementary School Library is hosting a Book Swap.  Families can donate gently used children's books from Tuesday, Jan. 16th to Tuesday, Jan. 23rd.  

During Family Literacy Week students will browse and pick 'new to them' books to take home.

Hume Elementary School - Winter Concert 2023

Hume Elementary celebrated the winter season with their community and their annual 2023 Winter Concert.  

We had over 500 of our parents, grandparents, relatives, friends, and guests come out to take in the 2023 Hume Winter Concert.  The students did a wonderful job of representing the school, themselves, and the community.  Each of the class performances was unique and filled with positive festive vibes!  No better way in which to ring in the winter holidays.

School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) announced the election by acclamation of a new chair and vice-chair of the Board of Education at the inaugural board meeting held in Nelson, B.C., on November 14. School Trustee Dawn Lang was elected uncontested as the new chair, moving into the role after serving one year as vice-chair. School Trustee Julie Bremner was elected uncontested to the position of vice-chair, her first term in the position.

Hume School Library is hosting an in-person Scholastic Book Fair.

The book fair will run for 3 days. The fair will be open throughout the day for staff and students to view and purchase items.

The fair is open after school for everyone to visit on:

Tuesday, Nov. 14th - 2:30 to 4:30 pm
Wednesday, Nov. 15th (Early Dismissal) - 1:30 to 4:30
Thursday, Nov. 16th (Early Dismissal) - 1:30 to 4:30
