Hume Kindness Club
This year Hume has started a kindness club that runs Tuesdays at lunch. The purpose of the kindness club is to help others, be inclusive and fair, and be a leader in kindness. The club has about 20 students in grades 4 and 5 who organize and lead events that promote a culture of kindness. In November, the kindness club hosted Kindness Day where the kindness leaders supported numerous activities: kindness bingo challenge, apple cider with kind messages (for the entire school!), and kindness trivia with prizes.
The kindness club initiatives further deepened Hume Schools staff and student focus on the Circle of Courage and specifically the domain of Belonging. The entire school has been emphasizing the importance of individuals having a sense of connectedness to someone or something. It is clear that a positive sense of belonging nurtures self-esteem, self-worth, and ultimately equips children with the ability to develop healthy relationships with others.
The Kindness Club leaders are empathetic, hardworking, and very enthusiastic! They have already made a difference in the school and Hume is looking forward to seeing their upcoming ideas come to fruition!
