Dancing into Wellness at Hume Elementary
There’s been music, movement, and a whole lot of joy filling the halls of Hume Elementary this spring! Each of our Kindergarten to Grade 5 classes has been participating in a series of 5–6 engaging dance sessions with talented dance instructor Carly Naka.
Through rhythm, coordination, and creative expression, students have been exploring the fun and fitness of dance as part of the Physical Health and Education Curriculum. These sessions not only support physical literacy but also build confidence, teamwork, and a love for movement.
In addition to these in-class experiences, some of our K–5 students have also been grooving during lunch hours thanks to a Hip-Hop Dance series offered by the Hume Parent Advisory Council (PAC). Led by MJ Armstrong — a local dance instructor and passionate advocate for movement — these high-energy sessions have added even more rhythm and excitement to our school day.
A big thank you to Carly Naka, MJ Armstrong, and our supportive PAC for making dance such a dynamic and meaningful part of student life at Hume!
