Applied Design Skills and Technology - Hume

During the month of January, students were engaged in a variety of hands-on activities and projects during their weekly Applied Design, Skills and Technology (ADST) classes.

Students in primary grades participated in the Design Thinking Process as they built buckets to travel down ziplines and constructed winter dens and snow structures. Intermediate grades used Chromebooks to develop graphic design skills through the creation of Word Art. They also learned about circuits while using motors, alligator clips, and batteries to create Scribble Bots. Students had fun testing their bots and reflected on design questions such as How can changes be made to make the Scribble Bot move faster/slower?  Which bots made dotted lines? Which bots made solid lines? Why?

It has been an exciting start to the new year in ADST at Hume Elementary School.
