Winter Bazaar, Socks of Care and a bake sale

By Janene Stein, Principal - Hume Elementary

Hi Parents,

On Saturday, December 7, the PAC will be having their Second Annual Winter Bazaar.  Craft fairs are always so fun and this year’s is going to be great!  As part of the bazaar, the school would like to have a bake sale. The money raised would go toward helping families in need by providing food hampers and by dontating to the “Socks of Care” program the grade 3 class is coordinating (see below).  If you can provide baking for the bake sale, please have it to the school on Friday, Dec 6 or bring it Saturday Dec. 7 when you attend the bazaar.  Thanks for this donation!  We certainly appreciate how our families support the school.

Socks of Care is intended to provide a warm pair of socks and a few personal care items to people in need.  The Baptist Church on 5th Street collects socks, personal care items and soft snacks to distribute.  The grade three class will be asking for donations towards this program and so start collecting your free toothbrushes and that lip balm you bought and never took out of its package- or is that just me?

Thank you for participating in the parent-teacher interviews this month.  The staff were very pleased with all the responses and the quality of the discussion they were able to have with you.  There were various degrees of comfort with the form we sent home, so next year we thought we’d get the form out to you earlier. We hope we have some flexibility with the timeframes as well because the teachers talked about having the interviews earlier in the month.  As this is our first year with this format, if you have any questions, please let us know.

Happy weekend,
